Describe your organisation

The Turkish Touring and Automobile Association (TTOK)Türkiye Turing ve Otomobil Kurumu — is one of Turkey's oldest civil society organisations, founded in 1923 in parallel with the Republic of Turkey. As the country's FIA member, TTOK has served for over a century as Turkey's principal civil voice on road safety, mobility, and motoring culture.

TTOK is a non-governmental, public-benefit organisation with a mandate that spans:

  • Road safety education and advocacy, including free public Road Safety Information Meetings open to all drivers and non-drivers alike;
  • Professional rider training, most notably the Safer Motorcycle Courier Programme, which has trained over 30,000 riders since 2014, achieved a 92% certification rate, and contributed to the formal recognition of motorcycle courier work as a hazardous occupation under Turkish law (May 2025);
  • International mobility services, including Carnet de Passages and International Driving Permits;
  • Automotive and touring heritage preservation, including a national motoring museum and archives;
  • Policy-oriented evidence generation, including current pilot projects on driver resilience and behavioural change.

TTOK operates in active partnership with the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), iRAP (International Road Assessment Programme), EuroRAP, and Turkish government ministries including the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services.

The organisation's mission rests on a simple principle: every road user — driver or not, professional or casual — deserves to reach home safely. TTOK pursues this mission by combining a century of institutional experience with contemporary, evidence-based programmes designed in dialogue with road users themselves.
