EFTHITA Rhodes – Road Safety Observatory

The Company for the Support of Road Accident Victims is a non-profit, non-governmental organization operating in the field of road safety.

In Rhodes, it has been active since June 2004. It was founded on the initiative of its President, Eleni Karydi, herself a road accident victim, following the loss of her 19-year-old son Dimitris on February 12, 2002. The organization is supported by scientists, victims, relatives of road accident victims, and individuals sensitive to road safety issues.

Objectives

  • To support road accident victims through a team of consultants (lawyers, doctors, experts, transport engineers, mechanical engineers, educators, psychologists, and social workers)
  • To promote solidarity among road accident victims (moral and emotional support)
  • To intervene in an organized manner and apply social pressure on state authorities to improve road safety and reduce traffic accidents
  • To support, undertake, and promote activities related to road safety, traffic education, research, public awareness, and the sensitization of citizens—especially vulnerable groups (students and the elderly)
