5th National Day of Road Safety

On October 21, 2024, Croatia celebrated the 5th National Day of Road Safety at Ban Josip Jelačić Square in Zagreb. The event, organized by the Ministry of the Interior, aimed to educate the public on road safety and especially motorcycle safety amid rising accident rates. Key participants included Deputy Prime Minister Davor Božinović, police chief Nikola Milina, the Croatian Automobile Club and various institutions involved in the National Road Safety Plan.

Activities featured collision and rollover simulators, quizzes on traffic rules, and opportunities to engage with police vehicles, emphasizing the campaign's motto: "It's not about the number of wheels; think about the rules and the driver!" The campaign highlights the alarming statistics of road accidents, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance among motorcyclists to reduce incidents and enhance overall road safety.

The Croatian Automobile Club presented a collision and rollover simulator, which demonstrated the dangers of not wearing seatbelts during a crash. These interactive tools allowed participants to experience the effects of a traffic accident firsthand, emphasizing the critical importance of buckling up.

Education is vital for instilling lifelong road safety habits. Programs offered by the Croatian Automobile Club target children, young adults and elderly in an effort to equip them with essential knowledge about traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and responsible driving.
