Glavni izazovi sigurnosti u prometu kojima se projekt „Matematika na cesti” sustavno bavi odnose se na kombinaciju ponašanja sudionika u prometu, nedostatka prometne kulture te nedovoljne povezanosti teorijskog znanja i stvarnih situacija u svakodnevnom okruženju.
Jedan od ključnih problema je neprepoznavanje i nedovoljno razumijevanje prometnih znakova i pravila, osobito kod djece i mladih sudionika u prometu. To uključuje pravilno kretanje pješaka, sigurno prelazak ceste te uočavanje potencijalno opasnih situacija u lokalnim naseljima.
Dodatni izazov je nepažnja i distrakcija u prometu, koja se sve češće pojavljuje zbog korištenja mobilnih uređaja i smanjene koncentracije sudionika, što povećava rizik od nesreća.
Projekt se također bavi problemom nedovoljne povezanosti prometne sigurnosti s nastavnim sadržajima, posebno u matematici i ostalim predmetima. Učenici često uče prometna pravila izolirano, bez razumijevanja njihove stvarne primjene.
Poseban izazov predstavlja i potreba za jačanjem prometne kulture u ruralnim sredinama, gdje je infrastruktura raznolika, a prometna opterećenost varira.
Kroz projekt se ovi izazovi nastoje prevladati integriranim pristupom, praktičnim aktivnostima, video materijalima, kvizovima i suradnjom s policijom i stručnim institucijama, s ciljem stvaranja dugoročno sigurnijeg ponašanja u prometu.


World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is an initiative launched in 1993 by RoadPeace to honor victims of road traffic accidents and their families. The United Nations confirmed its significance in 2005 and declared it a global day observed on the third Sunday of November.

This day is marked by the message Remember. Support. Act. aimed at highlighting the consequences of road traffic accidents and promoting road safety.

Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) presented the preventive-educational program “Safe E-Scooter Riding” to colleagues from Austria (ÖAMTC) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIHAMK)

The Croatian Automobile Club organized an international presentation on November 7, 2025, of the new preventive-educational e-scooter program “Safe E-Scooter Riding”. The rising use of e-scooters among younger population, which has led to more accidents, sparked international interest in HAK’s program experience.

The program responds to the growing use of e-scooters as a simple, practical, eco-friendly transport mode, addressing increased accidents and users’ lack of traffic rule awareness.

European Mobility Week 2025

The European Mobility Week was held from September 16 to 22 under the motto “Mobility for Everyone”, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable urban mobility. Each year, the European Commission invites cities and local communities to promote use of sustainable modes of transport, while this year’s theme emphasises ensuring transport accessibility for people of all ages, abilities and needs.

The central event in Zagreb took place on September 22 in Zrinjevac Park, where the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) also participated with the e-scooter simulator.

New preventive and educational program of the Croatian Automobile Club "Safe E-Scooter Riding"

In the Republic of Croatia, nearly 400 e-scooter accidents were recorded last year, causing two deaths. In the first seven months of 2025, there were already 365 accidents and over 100 serious injuries. Many involved minors, while accidents involving children using personal transport devices have also risen. 

HAK Launches Enhanced SMS Support on Emergency Number 1987 – a Communication Solution to Address the Needs of Individuals with Disabilities

The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) has introduced a new SMS assistance service on the emergency number 1987, designed to better support people with disabilities, especially those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Now users can send an SMS to 1987 with their location, vehicle details and description of the problem to quickly receive roadside assistance.

HAK Awards: Videos on the Topic "10 Golden Rules for Road Safety"

Since 2016, the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) hosts an annual short film competition based on the 10 Golden Rules for Road Safety. The contest aims to foster road safety, as well as creativity and enthusiasm among young people and is open to contestants up to 24 years old.

5th National Day of Road Safety

On October 21, 2024, Croatia celebrated the 5th National Day of Road Safety at Ban Josip Jelačić Square in Zagreb. The event, organized by the Ministry of the Interior, aimed to educate the public on road safety and especially motorcycle safety amid rising accident rates. Key participants included Deputy Prime Minister Davor Božinović, police chief Nikola Milina, the Croatian Automobile Club and various institutions involved in the National Road Safety Plan.

HAK participates in the National Cycling Conference

The National Cycling Conference took place in Osijek from October 9-11, 2024, as a significant initiative by the Croatian Ministry of Sea, Traffic, and Infrastructure. Launched in 2022 as part of the EU's Danube Cycle Plans, the conference provided a platform for stakeholders to collaborate on enhancing cycling infrastructure and promoting cyclotourism. During the event, it was highlighted that cycling participation in Croatia stood at only 6%, which was significantly lower than in many European countries.
