HAK continues “Golden Years” project for the elderly

The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) continuously implements the “Golden Years” project intended for the elderly aged over 65, who actively participate in traffic throughout the Republic of Croatia. So far in 2024, two interactive sessions have been held in two Croatian towns Jastrebarsko and Karlovac, located in the vicinity of Zagreb.

While the elderly may be reluctant to give up the independence, comfort and other privileges that driving brings, statistical data shows that more and more elderly people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes.

The “Golden Years” project directly involves senior citizens and provides an elaborate explanation of potential difficulties that the elderly may encounter in traffic.

During these interactive lectures, participants solve a short test on traffic regulations and rules. The self-assessment test was created for the purpose of assessing one’s ability to actively participate in traffic and serves as an aid in making a decision when and under what conditions it would be desirable to stop driving.
