Describe your organisation

Trafity OÜ is an organization focused on conducting intervention courses for traffic offenders, primarily referred by the PPA (Police and Border Guard Board of Estonia) or the Prosecutor's Office, as well as delivering training on behalf of the Transport Administration. Our courses follow a traditional classroom setup, where participants and instructors engage in person, utilizing visual aids projected onto a board or wall for explanations. Notably, we display a statistical summary of all participants’ traffic risk profiles, which they complete prior to attending the course, to enhance the learning experience.

Since 2005, rehabilitation programs have been active, with prevention initiatives starting in 2007. Over 1,200 courses have been conducted, reaching more than 55,000 participants.

The rehabilitation course is designed for traffic offenders (mainly drunk drivers), with the goal of changing their behavior and reducing recidivism. The prevention course deals with the classic traffic risks, e.g., speed and alcohol-related risks. The course is primarily aimed at remedying knowledge deficits. However, it also aims to positively influence risky attitudes towards alcohol and speeding. A computerized preliminary questionnaire is used to achieve the best results. A personal risk profile is created for each participant. There is also a group-specific evaluation of the questionnaires based on the priorities set for each course implementation. So far, these groups are moderated by a traffic psychologist.

Since 2024, Virtual Reality (VR) solutions have been used for all participants in rehabilitation courses. Additionally, the VR solution has been presented to policymakers in Brussels, as well as to practitioners in Finland at the European Driving Schools Association meeting, at the Traffic Psychology International meeting, and at the 2025 Lifesavers Conference on Roadway Safety in California.
