The dashcamUa and its dashcamEs system is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming road safety in Spain. Initially the system was developed in Ukraine. Pilot tests showed that the number of users with application on their mobile phones outnumbered stationary police cameras on Ukrainian roads by more than 100 times. The tests proved that mobile application is capable of capturing more than 20 dangerous types of violations, also helping to tackle common cases of aggressive driving and road rage. The official launch of the system in Ukraine was expected in Summer of 2022 but was paused due to the russian invasion to Ukraine.
For the past 1.5 years, the Fundación Ado Moure-Pro Deporte and Ukrainian NGO team have been working with the DGT and the Spanish Ministry of the Interior to bring dashcamEs to Spain.
In summer 2024, the project received a letter from the DGT, with a confirmation from Head of Regulatory Unit of DGT, Francisco de las Alas-Pumariño Linde, stating there were no legal barriers to its implementation in Spain. Later in December 2024 team received confirmation in official letter that dashcamEs reports will be processed by local DGT departments, ensuring they include the required information in accordance with the current voluntary reporting protocol (Protocol 1/2022).
The dashcamEs system was finally launched at the end of January 2025. At the moment application was dowloaded by thousands of Spanish drivers, cyclists and motorcyclists. Reports from dashcamEs system are submitted to DGT which is obliged by the law to investigate each of such cases.
