Describe your organisation
Quercus grupa is a Croatian business and the organisational home of ECS – Educational Centre Slavonia, an innovative preventive road safety education programme founded and developed by Darko Šimić, an experienced driving instructor and road safety trainer.
ECS combines theoretical education with practical learning in safe, controlled conditions, using specially adapted training vehicles and interactive traffic scenarios.
Our methodology focuses on hazard anticipation, observation, empathy, cooperation and responsible decision-making. Children learn to recognise and understand traffic mistakes through practical experience. Groups are limited to 20 pupils to ensure individual attention and continuous assessment.
In 2026, ECS was successfully implemented in two Croatian primary schools.
The established programme lasts four weeks, with potential development into three-month, six-month and full-school-year educational models.
ECS has been formally submitted to the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Youth (case reference 602-01/26-01/00498), with related communication involving the Education and Teacher Training Agency (AZOO).
The programme has also been presented to the European Commission’s DG MOVE, which responded under reference Ares(2026)9529443.
Our long-term objective is independent scientific evaluation and the development of a transferable European model of practical road safety education.
Our guiding principle: “We do not simply create drivers – we create responsible road users.”
