DTL commitment to traffic safety

What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?

DTL - Danish Transport and Logistics - is a member of the Danish Council for Safe Traffic and of the National Road Safety Commission and has an advisory role for the Danish National Accident Commission's special subgroup on safety in connection with truck maneuvers when turning.

In addition to these activities, over the next 3 years we will strive to carry out the following actions/activities and thus continue to commit to the European Road Safety Charter:

DTL continuously seeks to involve our members, local associations, the municipalities, schools and other public institutions to spread the message of a safety and prevention culture and thereby create better road safety:

- We take our members on visits

DTL actively participates in various events together with our member companies to support the companies' own road safety work and ensure targeted and relevant information about road safety. Often the schools contact our member companies directly to arrange a school visit, but DTL is always available with concrete help and support if the company wants it.

- We cooperate with municipalities

DTL is happy to collaborate with the municipalities in the country that focus on road safety. An example is the '112 (emergency) day' in Holstebro Municipality. Here, together with our local association in Holstebro, we organize a day for school children aged 8-11 with a focus on road safety. In addition, the police, ambulance rescuers and the fire service participate. As a rule, a haulier company also participates with their truck as well as a DTL consultant is present. 2nd to 4th grade at all the schools in the area are invited to this day.

Another example is the collaboration between one of DTL's own local associations, Thy Vognmandsforening, and Thisted Municipality to participate in the annual training in road safety at the municipality's schools.

- We are running for events

DTL participates with a stand at the annual Danish championship "Skills" to spread the message of our latest campaign among the participating young people. At "Skills", young people in vocational education compete to be the best in their field. This happens, among other things, in professional areas such as crane operator, pastry chef, mechanic, painter and truck driver.

DTL brings here the video from the road safety campaign, which demonstrates the challenges of maneuvering a heavy truck. For "Skills", we hope to be able to get the young people to watch the video, participate in a dialogue about road safety, get an insight into the view of truck drivers and motivate them to take more responsibility for their own safety in traffic.
