The charity HersenStrijd / Brain Battle raises awareness for (traffic-related) acquired brain injury in the Netherlands. We are part of the University of Maastricht (University Fund Limburg), founded 6 years ago. We have been organising many campaigns and meetings to ask for improved safety in daily traffic, especially cycling. The charity's founders are doctors working in the intensive care where most severe road traffic casualties are admitted. For 3 years the charity has also been part of Dutch Doctors for Safe Biking which advises the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water regulation. As most severe casualties have severe brain damage, our campaigns focussed on promoting (voluntary) wearing of cycling helmets. Last April we organised for the third time 'the Day of the Bicycle Helmet' in the Netherlands).
