Main challanges are to provide Self-Explaining road design around Schools and School areas and where Children walk to School. therefore drivers tend to slow down and become more attentive in traffic, also maximun speeds (Vmax) are much lower.
Consequently Children are more safe going to School and around School areas, drivers drives more safe and with that walkability and using of sustainable transport (public, bikes...) increased.

Mostramos nuestro compromiso e impacto en la sociedad madrileña en el marco de las actividades educativas, que el caso el Cuerpo de Policía Municipal de Madrid, alcanzan a todos los niveles educativos. Nuestro desafío es trabajar por una Seguridad Vial Urbana real, manteniendo el propósito de aumentar las aptitudes y los conocimientos de las personas usuarias y de forma concreta las personas consideradas vulnerables, a través de diferentes actividades educativas a diferentes grupos de edad, precisamente, ahondando en la protección de la integridad física de los usuarios de las vías, en especial, las personas más vulnerables buscando en todo momento la implicación participativa de la comunidad educativa.

-Carencia de normativa municipal reguladora de la circulación de vehículos de movilidad personal (VMP). Existe normativa sobre características técnicas elaborada por DGT (Estado), pero queda en manos de las autoridades locales la regulación de la circulación.
-Incremento en los últimos años de la utilización de estos vehículos, especialmente en los más jóvenes que carecen de conocimientos básicos en seguridad vial (carecen de permisos de conducir establecidos)
-Incremento exponencial de los accidentes de tráfico con víctimas usuarias de VMP en la localidad (especialmente menores de edad con edades inferiores a 16 años)

The main road safety challenge that was tackled in this initiative is safety of the pedestrians and drivers on the main street of Põlva. The daily traffic volume on this road segment is high, with approximately 5000 vehicles, including trucks, passing through it every day. Simultaneously, high number of pedestrians use the same road daily to get to work or school. From a traffic safety perspective, this road segment is challenging – the hilly and winding road can distract drivers from speed limits, and the increased prevalence of light vehicles (bicycles, scooters etc) further amplifies the danger of this situation.
Smart Road is a vision of the future street, where all road users are equally preferred, and the emphasis is no longer solely on cars. Smart Road is designed to encourage drivers to objectively consider their traffic behaviour and to pay more attention to vulnerable road users. At the same time, the creators of Smart Road understand that vulnerable road users are indeed more difficult to notice, and effective solutions must be provided to assist drivers in focusing their attention on them.

Bis zum Jahr 2016 hatten wir in Wiener Neudorf nur einen Ausflugsradweg, eine sichere Fußgänger- und Radfahrer-Verbindung im Ortszentrum existierte nicht. Die Hauptverkehrsachsen wurden über die vorangegangenen Jahrzehnte nur für den motorisierten Individualverkehr ausgebaut, es gab keinen Platz für die aktive Mobilität. Ohne sichere Wege konnte die Mobilitätswende nicht eingeleitet werden.
Die Marktgemeinde Wiener Neudorf hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, den Modalsplit deutlich zugunsten der aktiven Mobilität zu verbessern. Somit wurden in den letzten Jahren sichere Fuß- und Radverbindungen zu allen Nachbargemeinden geschaffen und diese führen entlang der Hauptverkehrsachsen von Norden nach Süden und von Osten nach Westen durch den gesamten Ort.
Im Zentrum von Wiener Neudorf befinden sich nebeneinander die Volksschule und ein Kindergarten mit zusammen fast 450 Kindern. In diesem Bereich kam es durch das Elterntaxi immer wieder zu gefährlichen Situationen. Die letzten Jahre mussten deshalb vor der Volksschule immer zwei Polizist:innen vor Schulbeginn anwesend sein. Besonders für Kinder ist es wichtig, dass sie sich sicher fühlen. Der unmittelbare Bereich vor der Bildungseinrichtung ist natürlich wichtig, jedoch muss dieser auch in ein sicheres und attraktives Wegenetz eingebunden sein.
