NE BLUZI, Z GLAVO KRUZI New initiative for safe micromobility

The increase in the number of traffic accidents and violations among e-scooter riders represents a serious challenge to traffic safety in Slovenia. We have identified the need to raise awareness among riders about the dangers associated with e-scooter use, promote responsible behavior among micromobility users, and take measures to improve traffic safety.

The main causes of traffic accidents involving e-scooters are excessive speed, improper lane or direction, and distractions (phone use, headphones, etc.).

Vulnerable groups, especially children and adolescents, are at an increased risk of severe injuries, with head injuries being prominent.

At Zavod VOZIM, in partnership with Zavarovalnica Triglav, we have undertaken the initiative NE BLUZI, Z GLAVO KRUZI to address this issue. The NE BLUZI, Z GLAVO KRUZI initiative represents the collaboration and complementing of experiences and ideas among partners from various sectors.

We introduced the NE BLUZI, Z GLAVO KRUZI initiative to the public in September 2023 with a national marketing campaign based on excuses made after e-scooter-related accidents. At the start of the marketing campaign, we also presented a prototype of a safe e-scooter (which can only be used with both hands on the handlebars), developed in collaboration with students from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana and students from the School of Chemistry, Electronics, and Computer Science in Celje. An important part of the accompanying activities of the NE BLUZI, Z GLAVO KRUZI campaign includes educational events and workshops using an e-scooter simulator, which are conducted at various secondary and primary schools across Slovenia.

Promotion of the initiative and campaign is through various communication channels (TV, radio, internet, social networks).

We also published 5 videos online, which we recorded together with the young people of the Celje School Centre. In the videos, an interview is recorded on the streets, where the "leader" notices passers-by using and driving micro-mobile vehicles incorrectly.
