A Visit To The Fire Brigade Headquarters – How To Notify of an Accident

On 16th September fourth-grade pupils visited the Fire Brigade Headquarters in Dąbrowa Tarnowska. Pupils marched the streets of the town under the watchful eyes of police officers who were there to guarantee children’s safety. Having reached the destination, pupils were shown the equipment of a fire engine. Everybody could try a fireman’s helmet on or sit behind the wheel of a vehicle. Those who were brave enough could try their hand at an obstacle course or hold a fire hose and pour water trying to hit the target.

Lesson On Safety In “The Green Classroom” (desks and benches for pupils outside the school building)

Apart from activities connected with traffic that are conducted during lessons, pupils from grades 4-6 can learn in the Green Classroom. Fourth-grade pupils participated in such a lesson and the topic was “Road Users”. The lesson in the Green Classroom gave us the possibility to monitor traffic, indicate road users’ proper and improper behavior and divide road users into pedestrians, passengers, drivers and cyclists. We could check if their behavior was in conformity with the Highway Code. It was great.

“Puchatek Safety Club”.

In the school year 2015/2016 our school once again took part in the educational program for first graders from primary schools called “Puchatek Safety Club”. The first year at school is a new stage in the life of both a child and his parents. For many of parents it is the first time they leave their child in teachers’ care. This is why we want our school to be unforgettable experience for children.

We do educational project „Safe Road” and innovative program „Safety and First Aid”

Our school is active in doing activities about safety on the roads. It is very important for us to teach very young children how to behave and be safe on the road. It is because Radom is a quite big city with heavy traffic and our school is near busy roads with traffic lights and pedestrian crossings. The teachers in our school want our students to be safe on the roads. That’s why they want them to gain necessary knowledge about traffic rules. Therefore they organize many school competitions and school meetings about safety on the roads.

TRAFFIC ACADEMY

Traffic Academy is a periodical for of traffic education that is carried on in Primary School No 15 in Radom since 2008. There are many streets with heavy traffic near our school. One of them is an international route E7. All this makes the teachers worry about the safety of the students. The statistics show that in Poland 15 people are killed and 160 wounded in traffic accidents. Is it many? It is definitely too many! Many of those accidents could be avoided if both drivers and the pedestrians would be more cautious and know traffic regulations better.

Safe and Vulnerable

During the school year 2015/2016 the students of Primary School No 15 in Radom take part in a program called S&V (Safe and Vulnerable) , which is organized by the local police station. The program’s motto is “zero vision”, which is for zero victims in traffic accidents. It started on 17th December 2014 and the students from our school took part in an opening ceremony. They showed an artistic presentation about pedestrians’ safety on the streets. The we wearing reflective vests. They were also holding red and green lights symbolizing traffic lights.

PERIODICAL MEETING WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF POLICE STATION

During the school year we organize many meetings to make our students realize what kind of dangers they can meet on their way to school and back home. We believe that thanks to such meetings our students will be more safe and their knowledge of how to call for help and first aid abilities will not have to be checked in real situations. This school year there were several meetings with police officers. On 29th September two female police officers visited our school.
