On the occasion of “Camminare per la vita” day, which took place on September 17 2023, the Province of Treviso in collaboration with the Local Police and FIAB (Italian Federation Friends of Bicycle) offered a road educational route for children, with particular attention to those who use bicycles to move around or even just to play, aiming to promote the active learning of children by proposing a path inside Sant’Artemio Park, headquarter of the Province, with appropriate signs and indications.
The proposed method consisted of:
• The recognition of road signs and the rules underlying them.
• The acquisition of responsible behaviour for oneself and for other road users.
• The acquisition of mobility skills along the proposed route to develop autonomy and independence.
• The promotion of an active lifestyle by using bicycles or by walking, to keep a good level of physical activity and develop healthy lifestyle habits.
Following the indications of the Local Police, it was our intention to create a work team to develop a plan for the route which include fun and interactive elements to involve children. At the end of the route children received a license.
