The Bulgarian State Agency for Road Safety to launch a campaign to protect children’s lives and health on the road within the European Mobility Week

As a part of the European Mobility Week, which coincides with the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, the Bulgarian State Agency Road Safety (SARS) launches an information campaign on the safety of children as road users.

The campaign focuses on the role of parents and families in educating a culture of safe and socially responsible behavior on the road, as well as on the personal responsibility of each of us for the safety of children. A dedicated video presents the trauma of victims of road accidents and their families. The video aims to change people‘s mindset that “this cannot happen to them”. In addition to the video, the Agency team developed digital learning material to guide parents on how to communicate with and impact children, and their growing up as responsible citizens.

With the cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science, the video and digital material will reach all schools in the country to be included as a topic during teacher-parents meetings at the beginning of the school year. This will be the basis for a talk on children‘s safety on the road and the necessary skills that each parent has to hand over to their children.

The video was produced with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Bulgarian Red Cross, the Association of Road Accident Victims, and Ivan Radev Studio. All information material is available on SARS official website (https://www.sars.gov.bg/).
