The YELLOW MAY Movement was born with one proposal: to draw the society attention to the high rate of deaths and injuries in worldwide traffic. The goal is to coordinate an action between the government and the civic society. The intention is to set the road safety topic, and more than draw the attention of society about the high rates of deaths and permanent injuries on traffic in our country and the world, mobilize your involvement and also the government’s organs, companies, associations, federations and organized civil society to effectively discuss the topic, engaging actions and propagating the knowledge, covering the entire range that the subject requires, in many different spheres, escaping the everyday customary fallacies. Following the success of other movements such as the "Pink October" and "Blue November", which respectively, deal with the issues of breast and prostate cancer, the “YELLOW MAY” encourages you to promote activities related to awareness about the broad responsibility discussion and assessment the risks of every citizen behavior within there daily traffic movements. The deliberate ribbon choice as the movement symbol meets the society need to treat traffic accident as a truly epidemic and consequently trigger every citizen to take precautions of care and save you from being a victim. The month choice was because, on May 11 of 2011, ONU decreed the Decade of Action for Road Safety. So May became the global benchmark for actions around the world. The yellow color represents the attention and also warning signs in traffic. Is worth to highlight that YELLOW MAY, as the name says, is a movement, an action, not a campaign, that means tha each citizen, entity or company can use the YELLOW MAY ribbon in their awareness action as much as in May and as far as possible during the whole year.
