SAFE FLEET HeatMap

Initiative details

Years before, "fleet size" was the only criteria to prioritize risk. Focus was mainly on countries with bigger fleets, where audits, programs reviews and inspections were continuously and repeatedly performed. With the combination of multi input of data like: program review & audit scores, last audit performed, SAFE FLEET Team presence, fleet size, vehicle ownership, performance (CPMM and IPMM), BTW completion, High Risk Drivers %, SIF-p, we were able to identify and predict more accurate where risk resides and finally define good/strong strategic action plans.

Project activities

If you work together with external partners, list the most important partners and briefly describe their role.

Criteria developed internally, with IT support as our key partner.

Please describe the project activities you carried/are carrying out and the time period over which these were implemented.

All information is reported in one platform, this is our source of Truth. With the support of AI, we bring together 14 different channels/categories of information per country into one database. as an outcome we have Trend Graphics and a Table who will give us the prioritization level per country. More important the HeatMap is a data visualization technique that shows magnitude of a phenomenon as color in 3 levels of risk (low/medium/high), very easy to identify which country needs support and focus.

Evaluation

What has been the effect of the activities?

JNJ has been working and developing safe fleet programs over the past 25 years. The tool itself has had a very important impact on performance, but even more so on risk perception, predictive analytics and the company's SAFE FLEET culture.
The 14 categories are:
o Number of Drivers – Exposure Score
o % of 2 Wheel Vehicles – Exposure Score
o Vehicle Ownership – Exposure Score
o Crash Per Million Miles (CPMM) – Risk Score
o Previous Quarter CPMM – Risk Score
o CPMM % Change (Prev Qtr) – Risk Score
o Injuries per Million Miles (IPMM) – Risk Score
o Previous Quarter IPMM – Risk Score
o IPMM % Change (Prev Qtr) – Risk Score
o Behind the Wheel Training % (BTW) – Exposure Score
o Total High Risk Drivers – Exposure Score
o Total Serious Injury and Fatality Events – Risk Score
o Total Serious Injury and Fatality Precursor – Risk Score

The level of risk is decided by exposure score x risk score, and the three levels are:
o Low – below 2.7
o Medium – between 2.7 and 3.7
o High – above 3.7

Some examples of support that is given after the evaluation:
o Training (FATIGUE / DISTRACTION / SPEED / DWI / PARKING & BACKING)
o Awareness campaigns
o Management Reviews (Executive management Involvement / Middle Management Involvement)
o High Risk Drivers – Action Control Plan
o Recognize Best Performers
