Initiative details
The thing that worked the best was that absolute majority of people who attended our trainings have realized the need to refresh their driving skills annually and keep returning and spreading the word about our program. The challenge that we encountered was that personal safety reflectors get often get lost and need to be distributed annually instead of being a one-off purchase. We also encountered myths among drivers that driving for many years reduces the risk of having accidents, which is not the case and we worked hard to inform them that no matter the experience, drivers should constantly update their skills and knowledge of the traffic rules.

In terms of implementation, what worked well and what challenges did you need to overcome?

If you work together with external partners, list the most important partners and briefly describe their role.
1. Lithuanian Road Police - we cooperate with them on radio shows and informative articles on road safety
2. Lithuanian press (TV channels and radio stations, such as TV3, LNK, LRT, Žinių Radijas, Radijas Kelyje, Delfi, 15min, Lrytas) - we cooperate with the press and journalists to create awareness of the traffic safety issues
3.Lithuanian biker clubs and associations (Biesa MCC, LMK association, IronX MC, Lithuanian Biker's Congress, LMSF) - we closely cooperate with biker community and clubs in order to have the widest outreach

Evaluation
Please summarise how you have evaluated the initiative’s impact (e.g. social media reach, survey, feedback forms, statistics).
- Annual improvement of motorcycle drivers' skills
- Returning drivers to traffic after accidents
- Informing and educating the public, creating a responsible attitude to participation in traffic
- Children's education about safe participation in traffic
- Breaking myths about safe participation in traffic and forming appropriate skills
We have attached "Social Media Links" file below for you to check our work and achievements.
We always evaluate our drivers at individual levels, however we also track out social media outreach - our main group has 1500 followers, however our social media content has amazing reach, for example our video about road safety posted on 25 April 2024 has gathered 46 thousand views as of 11 June 2024. We post videos and reels on Facebook roughly every 2-3 days and on average they get around 5 thousand views.

What has been the effect of the activities?
Effects of our activities - road accidents are reduced. Activity in self-improvement of skills increases. Our drivers ride on their own and improve their skills before the start of the season and realize that not only do they need to update their skills, but they also want to know how to improve them. The opinion of motorcyclists has changed for the better about the need to behave responsibly on the roads. After all our training, the ability to stop the motorbike quickly has improved. For example beginner drivers often stop from 50km/h speed only in 18-25m, while after only one training session with Motogym.lt the stopping distance from 50km/h becomes 11-14 meters. The ability to maneuver when driving in intensive traffic conditions improves. If before the training a person could barely pass through a 120 cm gap, after training they are able to move smoothly sometimes even through a gap of 75 cm as their feeling of the motorcycle's dimensions improves. Proper road monitoring procedures are formed, which allow to see the danger much earlier. An effective posture is formed, which allows drivers to stay alert longer and saves energy, thus protecting their health. After training, a driving habit appears, which reduces the risk of losing alertness. Reflexes are formed which, in the event of a critical situation when there is no time to measure and need to act, are activated in a fraction of a second, thus quickly avoiding an extreme situation or reducing the extent of future danger and health damage. Among our drivers there is a desire to drive safely and efficiently, which helps to be a safe traffic participant.
Please briefly explain why your initiative is a good example of improving road safety.
We are the only motorcycle advanced safety driving school in Lithuania and since we started our activities in 2019, we see that the need for our services has only grown as more and more drivers understand that importance of constantly updating their skills. We focus not just on safety, but also efficiency of driving in realistic conditions in order to create practical driving habits for real traffic.
How have you shared information about your project and its results?
