What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?

As the recognised body for road haulage operators in Ireland we are well versed in the issues of concern and we also have extensive expertise upon which to draw from. We are therefore committing to the European Road Safety Charter with the following.

To assist in providing a safe travelling environment for all users of our road infrastructure as well as for members directly involved in the road haulage industry we will:

- Produce and distribute road safety leaflets, they would be made available to our members and also to the general public. Based on past initiatives we have undertaken, we have tended to produce anywhere from 3500 - 5000 copies, be it flyers or safety DVD's.

- Organise road safety training seminars. Such seminars would be geared specifically to our members and would most likely be on a quarterly basis. The drivers CPC course (Certificate of Professional Competence), provided to members and non-members, and would touch on a lot of areas of interest such as general health and safety practise within the road haulage industry.

- Produce a DVD (in conjunction with the Road Safety Authority in Ireland) which is made available to all of our members, every national school in the country, county councils nationwide and cycling groups. We will also place a copy of the production on the homepage of our website which can be viewed by members of the public.

The materials produced will highlight particular areas of Road Safety concerns.
