Initiative details
Nextop Co-pilot is an intelligent driving assistant app designed to enhance road safety and operational efficiency for professional drivers. It operates fully offline using preloaded routes and special geofences to deliver real-time, on-edge audio alerts—no network connection required.
By combining GPS tracking with customizable geofence zones, the app provides precise voice guidance about critical road segments, including dangerous curves, steep downhills, speed limits, obstacle zones, and other risk areas. Fleet operators can personalize messages per route or region, offering context-aware advice that improves driver awareness and decision-making.
The solution also integrates vehicle health data, enabling real-time alerts for issues like overheating, brake wear, or system warnings—helping to prevent breakdowns and improve maintenance planning.
All processing happens directly on the device, ensuring fast, reliable alerts even in remote areas. Designed for fleets and logistics operations, Nextop Co-pilot empowers drivers with the information they need, exactly when they need it—boosting safety, compliance, and route efficiency.

Project activities
If you work together with external partners, list the most important partners and briefly describe their role.
we don't have partners
Please describe the project activities you carried/are carrying out and the time period over which these were implemented.
We have initiated commercialization in South America and are finalizing customization for the European market. In addition, we are integrating a dedicated hardware device equipped with AI algorithms to deliver enhanced fuel efficiency and predictive maintenance capabilities for vehicles.
In terms of implementation, what worked well and what challenges did you need to overcome?
One of the key successes in implementation was the edge-based architecture, which allowed the system to operate reliably without internet connectivity. This proved especially effective in remote or rural areas, where many logistics routes operate. The use of customizable geofences and preloaded route data enabled highly accurate and timely alerts, which drivers responded to positively. The ability to personalize audio messages per segment provided flexibility and enhanced safety outcomes. Early partnerships with fleet operators also helped us validate features and refine usability in real-world conditions.
Challenges Overcome:
A major challenge was ensuring GPS precision in varying terrains and conditions, which we addressed through advanced calibration techniques and error correction algorithms. Customizing the app for diverse regional regulations and languages, especially in preparation for the European market, required significant localization work. Integrating vehicle health data presented another hurdle, as different fleets use a wide range of telemetry systems. To solve this, we developed a modular hardware interface compatible with various vehicle types. Ensuring smooth edge processing of AI models in a low-power environment also required careful optimization.

Evaluation
Please summarise how you have evaluated the initiative’s impact (e.g. social media reach, survey, feedback forms, statistics).
To evaluate the impact of the Nextop Co-pilot solution, we employed a combination of quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback from early adopters. Pilot programs with logistics companies in South America provided key operational data, including reductions in route incidents, improved adherence to speed limits, and driver compliance with hazard alerts. Telematics data helped us quantify improvements in fuel efficiency and vehicle wear, particularly after integrating our AI-based hardware module.
Driver feedback was collected through structured surveys and in-app feedback forms. These responses gave us insights into user experience, perceived safety benefits, and feature effectiveness. Over 85% of drivers reported increased confidence on difficult routes, especially when receiving timely alerts for curves, downhills, and road hazards.
We also monitored engagement through internal app analytics, such as alert acknowledgment rates, route completion times, and usage frequency per driver. Additionally, social media and industry outreach allowed us to gauge interest and gather informal feedback from fleet managers and stakeholders.
Together, these evaluation methods have helped us refine the product roadmap, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate the value of Nextop Co-pilot in both operational efficiency and driver safety.

What has been the effect of the activities?
The implementation of Nextop Co-pilot has had a measurable and positive effect on both fleet operations and driver safety. Across pilot deployments in South America, we observed a significant reduction in safety incidents, particularly in challenging terrain and high-risk zones. Drivers became more alert and responsive to preloaded hazard warnings, leading to improved compliance with speed limits and route protocols.
Operationally, the integration of vehicle health alerts and AI-driven maintenance recommendations contributed to reduced downtime and fewer unexpected mechanical issues. Fleets reported noticeable improvements in fuel efficiency, supported by smarter driving behavior and better anticipation of difficult road segments.
Driver feedback has also been overwhelmingly positive. Many reported feeling more confident and supported on unfamiliar or complex routes. The use of customizable audio alerts in native languages enhanced clarity and engagement, reducing cognitive load during driving.
Fleet managers benefited from improved route performance data, allowing for better planning and risk mitigation. The offline functionality proved especially valuable in remote areas, where traditional navigation tools fail.
Overall, the activities around Nextop Co-pilot have demonstrated clear benefits in safety, efficiency, and user satisfaction, laying a strong foundation for expansion into new markets.

Please briefly explain why your initiative is a good example of improving road safety.
The Nextop Co-pilot initiative is a strong example of improving road safety because it delivers real-time, context-aware alerts directly to drivers, even in remote areas without internet access. By using offline geofences and preloaded routes, the app provides timely voice guidance about hazards such as sharp curves, steep downhills, speed limits, and obstacle zones. This proactive information helps drivers make safer decisions on the road.
Additionally, the system integrates vehicle health monitoring and AI-driven maintenance alerts, preventing mechanical failures that could lead to accidents. Its customizable audio messages and localized guidance further enhance driver awareness and reduce risks, making it a practical and scalable tool for improving safety in logistics and fleet operations.
