What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?
1. CRS-GEMA Prévention motorcycle track
We have created a free road safety education track for young people, managed by CRS (riot police) divisions in partnership with GEMA Prévention. We will make this track available to approximately 30 towns every year, upon the request of local authorities, teachers and school directors, GEMA mutual insurance company members, or organisers of exhibitions and trade fairs. After a theoretical introduction, the young people begin the practical phase on a home trainer (static motorcycle), in order to learn to use the controls and check all of the safety elements. They then move on to the track, first on a motorcycle with two sets of controls, with a CRS monitor riding pillion, and then on their own. The aim of the entire activity is to train them in road safety and as motorcycle drivers. The track is also open to adults who wish to learn to drive 125 cc motorbikes.Young people are given safety material by GEMA Prévention (jackets and gloves) during award ceremonies in the presence of local councillors. The track is set up on a tarred surface and is equipped with barriers and inflatable protection tubes. Highly secure, the circuit mimics real-life traffic conditions, with signs and road markings, etc. The operation involves a dozen CRS monitors in each town.
Distribution of brochures
All year round throughout France
2. Motorcycle and scooter trade fair
On this occasion, we will carry out recreational activities on road safety, including the Highway Code, a driving simulator, an eyesight test and a quiz, among other things. We will carry out a survey on motorcycle driver behaviour in order to fine-tune our prevention actions. The results of the survey will provide tangible elements to guide our prevention actions in accordance with the various types of motorcycle riders.
Publication of brochures and distribution of gifts
From 1 to 8 October 2009
3. “Cups for a bowl” partnership
We will participate in a national operation carried out during the Bol d'Or (24-hour endurance race). Dozens of young 14- to 17-year-olds from different towns go to the Magny-Court track on mopeds, accompanied by assistance vehicles. This operation provides us with an opportunity to develop road safety awareness actions (relating to the Highway Code, wearing helmets, first aid, etc.), communication awareness (media contact, role of ambassadors in the region) and an activity village.
Distribution of helmets and jackets
