What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?
One important goal for our organisation is the interdisciplinary exchange between science, management and politics in all matters relating to traffic. It is a neutral platform for the transfer of knowledge and experience between theory and practice when it comes to traffic development and is oriented towards sustainable traffic development.
Within the framework of the European Road Safety Charter, the Deutsche Verkehrswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft - DVWG will carry out 200 scientific events every year. These events will deal with current traffic issues as well as to an increasing extent with strategic development in traffic.
Methods:
As part of its activities, the DVWG includes the particular importance of traffic safety-related themes and their current problems. The yearly theme for 2010 has been set as "Safety in Mobility and Infrastructure", and under this motto, we are planning to invite experts from science, practice and politics to our events and congresses. The specialist dialogue initiated and carried out through the DVWG will help to raise common awareness of the problems related to traffic safety. The intensive transfer of knowledge and experience carried out through the DVWG events boosts communication and, moreover, interchange of potential solutions of a variety of road safety problems. We will also use our events for dissemination of information material on road safety, for example, at workshops for specific target groups. The amount of published material is to be determined.
By organizing road safety events DVWG will try to make a substantial contribution to enhancing road safety on a municipal-regional, national and European level.
