What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?
During the following 3 years The Automobile and Touring Club of Finland will commit to act on the following:
- The member magazine Moottori (Motor) is published 10 times a year. We will publish articles about road safety in each issue. Information about the traffic rules and regulations of different countries will be also published on the website of Autoliitto and in other publications.
- We will participate in several road safety promotion events during the national yearly Road Safety Week. We will e.g. organise “A day without cars” in dozens of cities all over Finland.
- We will organise the FIA European Traffic Education Contest for 10-12 year old children in Finland every year. The international organiser of the competition is FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile). The objective of the competition is to promote road safety among children and young people. The competition includes a practical cycling skills test and a theoretical written exam about traffic knowledge. The best 4-member team will represent Finland in the European level competition. In Finland there will be potentially 50.000 children taking part in the competition.
- We will publish results of several road safety related tests on our web site and in the Moottori magazine. We will take part in the Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) crash test program, which produces objective information about the safety of different cars models. The test for children’s safety seats covers all models that are sold in Finland. Test on crosswalks aim to raise awareness about both pedestrians and car drivers and to improve the safety of observed dangerous spots. All test results can be accessed in Finnish on our website free of charge.
- The Automobile and Touring Club of Finland organises winter driving courses and driving behaviour training to individuals and companies.
