What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?

Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil Club e.V. (ADAC) is Europe's largest automobile club, representing the mobility interests of approx. 16.6 million members. In addition to the provision of roadside assistance by its own road patrols, the key activities of ADAC include consumer protection and road safety.
In May 2009, ADAC presented its comprehensive road safety paper. This paper outlines ADAC's core demands for increasing road safety and ADAC's contribution to making roads safer by addressing 27 key issues in the following fields of action: people, vehicles, roads and rescue.
ADAC is committed to intensifying its efforts in the above issues and especially to stepping up the activities below:
-        Introduction of new ADAC road safety education and information programmes: ADAC will develop new programmes for preschool children (e.g. the "Aufgepasst mit ADACUS" programme for first-graders in Saxony) and senior road users ("FahrFitnessCheck").
-        Introduction of new driver safety training programmes, especially qualified training programmes for professional drivers.
-        Surveys and testing of road infrastructure to increase its safety, especially under the European Road Assessment Programme (EuroRAP).
-        Follow-up research for the prevention of vehicle-tree collisions and the development of data on accidents in local black spots.
-        Information material and events on safe design concepts for inner-city roads (e.g. on shared space).
-        Product and service testing from a road safety perspective: the focus will be on the safety requirements of alternative fuel passenger cars and new technologies such as gas-fuelled or electric cars.
-        Awareness-raising and information: road safety will continue to be a major topic in all issues of the ADACmotorwelt club magazine.
-        Research, public events and publications to intensify activities and awareness-raising in the fields of emergency and traffic medicine.
-        Stronger commitment in the field of air rescue to ensure quick emergency medical care, including at night-time and with a view to the changing structure in emergency care.
