VOM Academy delivers theoretical and experiential trainings off-road, using active and adventure-based learning to achieve riders’ self-improvement through special exercises in a safe and controlled environment. These training modules result in the complete harmonization between body and motorcycle, helping riders master their safe riding skills.
VOM has already trained riding instructors of the Greek Police, pilots of the Greek Air Force, University students, Municipalities, and audiences abroad.
The driving lessons consist of 3 levels
Level I
• Simple survival techniques.
• Avoidance of injuries in simple conditions.
• Correct way to lift the bike depending on the point in case of a fall.
• Rider warm-up – Body stretches before riding.
• Correct driving position – sitting position – Standing position.
• Slalom on flat ground.
• Theory and practice of braking on rough terrain.
• Theory of stretching on the machine.
• Obstacle courses.
• Crossing obstacles. (optional)
Level II
The second stage of learning focuses on obstacle crossing and rough terrain techniques.
Crossing obstacles: Waterfall.
Steps.
Torso – conical.
Uphill-downhill
Level III
• Correct way of movement on a mountain off road riding.
• Correct riding position with corrections where needed by the trainee rider
• Highlights to improve technique for each rider individually

Evaluation
What has been the effect of the activities?
After completing the VOM courses, riders gain both knowledge and self-esteem, immediately feeling improvement, riding more safely and confidently.
More than 1500 motorcycle riders have been trained using this method.
Each trainee who completes all three levels fills in a self-reporting questionnaire before and after the end of the course, showing percentage of improvement in attitudes and riding behaviour.
Follow-ups show that riders who have undergone the VOM training drive defensively, having full control of their motorcycle, and don’t get involved in road traffic crashes.

Please briefly explain why your initiative is a good example of improving road safety.
VOM’s way is an inclusive and holistic approach to safe motorcycle riding emphasizing on various aspects of riding beyond just the mechanical and technical one. It involves considering the rider's physical, mental, and emotional well-being, as well as their relationship with the motorcycle and other road users.
After graduating from our academy, riders have a much better riding perception and experience.

How have you shared information about your project and its results?
VOM training activities are presented in the Press and digital media as well on Greek television. VOM trains riders all over Greece with the help of national motorcycle clubs. Trainees are so pleased with their results that they promote VOM riding academy to their network. VOM is the best option for any motorcycle rider who aims at improving their riding and personal skills.
This is important as they encourage other new riders to join the riding academy.
