Describe your organisation

The Finnish Motor Insurers’ Centre (FMIC) is a cooperation body of Finnish motor insurers. Its traffic safety efforts are coordinated and supervised by the Finnish Crash Data Institute (OTI).

Based on legislation (Act 1512/2016) the FMIC organizes the in-depth on-the-scene road accident investigations and upkeeps the accident database. Additionally the FMIC upkeeps the statistics of accidents indemnified from the compulsory motor liability insurance.

Our activities in a nutshell:
We publish road safety reports based on the general findings of Road Accident Investigation Teams and claims statistics. /
We provide our data free of charge to road safety studies and reports and preparation of legislation. /
We donate annually 10,000 pedestrian reflectors to the Police to be distributed to road users. /
For the benefit of novice driver education, we will produce educational material based on the knowledge of real-life accidents and risk factors and distribute the material free of charge to driving schools and the Finnish Transport Safety Agency.
