“ASFALOS” Road Safety & Mobility (www.asfalws.com) was founded in 2016 by road safety and mobility educator and journalist Vasileios Kallias, with the aim of promoting road safety, road safety education and sustainable mobility through experiential and participatory actions. The name “ASFALOS” derives from the Greek word «Ασφαλώς», meaning “safely”.
The organisation is active in the fields of road safety education, education for children and adults, cyclist and pedestrian safety awareness, social awareness initiatives and the promotion of responsible road behaviour.
Through educational programs, awareness initiatives, collaborations with school communities, organisations and local authorities, as well as communication, education and public awareness activities through the road safety news platform Asfalos.gr (www.asfalos.gr) and Asfalos Radio (www.asfalosradio.gr), the first independent online radio station dedicated to road safety in Greece, “ASFALOS” aims to strengthen the culture of safe and sustainable mobility and encourage the active participation of citizens in issues related to everyday mobility and the prevention of traffic accidents.
