The KFV (Austrian Road Safety Board) was founded in 1959 as an independent association and has been working for 60 years to prevent accidents and increase safety in Austria. Today, its activities focus on the physical and material safety of people. The KFV's areas of activity include accident prevention in road traffic, household, leisure, and sports accidents, as well as property protection. The Department of Transport & Mobility is active in all common fields of road safety work particularly accident statistics and traffic engineering, driver education and vehicle technology, traffic education and traffic psychology.
