Describe your organisation
The Danish Road Safety Think Tank works for:
Vision
It is a fundamental right for everyone – children, young people, adults, and the elderly – to move about in traffic without being injured.
Mission
- To contribute to increased public awareness of road safety.
- To ensure that road safety remains high on the political agenda, as every single injury is one too many.
- To influence key decision-makers – both at national and municipal levels – towards improving road safety.
- To produce and communicate independent, evidence-based knowledge in the field of road safety.
- To bridge the gap between research, knowledge development, and practical application.
- To propose initiatives, collect data, and conduct analyses that promote safer roads.
Focus
- The Think Tank works to establish a comprehensive national database on road crashes and injuries in Denmark, based on data from all relevant stakeholders: the healthcare system, the police, and insurance companies.
- The Think Tank conducts analyses, develops new knowledge, and disseminates international best practices on road safety to Danish stakeholders.
- The Think Tank highlights road safety issues that are otherwise overlooked – for instance, assessing the scale and severity of pedestrian fall accidents, which are currently not recorded as traffic accidents.
