Miguel de Cervantes Public Primary School is located in the La Calzada district of the city of Gijón. The learning community is comprised of working class families with a high unemployment rate, pupils of different ethnic groups and nationalities and teachers involved in and committed to this educational activity. The school is the final destination of the majority.
On 6th May, 2015 a four-person team representing our school got a second place in XXXVIII Polish Nationwide Road Safety Tournament in the category of primary schools. There were two stages in these competitions. In the first one, participants form nine Primary Schools and four Junior High Schools wrote a test at the gym in Szkoła Podstatowa z Oddziałami Integracyjnymi Nr 10 im. Polonii w Słupsku (Primary School With Support Classes Number 10 in Słupsk). The second stage took place in WORD (Voivodeship Training Cetre For Drivers) in Słupsk.

Don't risk it on the roads is a road safety campaign set up by the student council after one of our students was hit by a motorbike whilst crossing the road by our school. His injuries were so serious he was air lifted to a London hospital for specialist treatment. The student council immediately decided it was time to campaign to the local council and point out the dangers faced by all who used the road on a daily basis. They were committed to making the roads in their local area safer for all who used them.

Nuestros objetivos son: -Potenciar la FORMACIÓN, INFORMACIÓN, SENSIBILIZACIÓN E INNOVACIÓN en materia de Seguridad Vial para lograr una sociedad más segura y saludable. -Fomentar la responsabilidad ciudadana y unos valores cívicos comprometidos y solidarios. -Disminuir la accidentabilidad vial en la sociedad.
