A world authority in road safety, Dr. Venter described how important the Charter is and how it is making a real contribution on Europe’s highways.

He stressed that it is key to engage all EU citizens and encourage both private and public sectors to tackle the issue. Any such collaboration would be of great value to the ERSCharter’s road safety targets.

Dr. Venter added that this joint effort would be crucial to “… make a difference to world road safety conditions and contribute to the United Nation’s Decade of Action for Road Safety”.

You can a full video of this interview with Dr. Venter below.

Dr. Pieter Venter is the Chief Executive Officer of the Global Road Safety Partnership and works as a regional manager for Africa. He was previously a manager of traffic safety for The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Transport represents a crucial sector of the economy. This publication provides an overview of the most recent and most pertinent annual transport related statistics in Europe.

It covers the European Union and its 28 Member States and, as far as possible, the current EU candidate countries and the EFTA countries. The content of this pocketbook is based on a range of sources including Eurostat, international organisations, national statistics and, where no data was available, on our own estimates. Our estimates have mainly been produced to get an idea of the EU total.
