Accidents in tunnels are characterized by a high intensity of impact on the environment and vehicles participating in the movement. The effects of such tears are great. In the case of the transport of dangerous goods, the lack of sufficient information may create additional, unexpected risks. Enabling the identification of dangerous goods entering tunnels can optimize risk management and aid decision making on progress.

The project is implemented by the following entities: m / d / r / k - Project leader identifying and adjusting scenarios, providing databases, creating visual databases and WASKA S.A. producer of tunnel traffic management software Management systems integrator with databases.
Please describe the project activities you carried/are carrying out and the time period over which these were implemented.
Development of an IT tool combining visual reconnaissance with databases and allowing for the automation of traffic control and tunnel equipment. The solution will create machine learning.It can be used in a tunnel simulator to practice unfamiliar behavior in relation to road incidents.

Please briefly explain why your initiative is a good example of improving road safety.
Knowledge of the transported loads translates into the possibility of risk assessment and minimizing the effects of road accidents. Having information about the composition of the traffic and the characteristics of the traffic approaching the tunnel, the safety officer can make decisions that will reduce the threat and risk to traffic in the tunnel.
How have you shared information about your project and its results?
Work is currently underway related to the coordination of recommendations from tunnel safety documentation with traffic obstruction systems, as well as supervision and monitoring systems. There are technological possibilities and confirmed by tests of the possibility of using all elements of the system. Their application depends on the will of the tunnel managers. The solution is individual in terms of content presentation and universal in terms of databases and machine learning tools. It can be used for safety management in any facility such as bridges, parking lots or roads.
