Project activities

If you work together with external partners, list the most important partners and briefly describe their role.

We made partnerships with many schools from the county, Local Transportation of Oradea City, County school Inspectorate, local police, driving schools, motorcycle clubs.. And also organised together with them many road safety events.

Please describe the project activities you carried/are carrying out and the time period over which these were implemented.

With the help of the Local Council, together we started a unique "Road Safety Laboratory" (we think that this kind of "place" is the only one in Romania, with this many kind of simulators and equipment). The first group of students visited us in august 2021, and since than we had many events in schools, in the house, and also in other locations in the county.
The students during our classes/events tried our simulators (motorcycle simulator, seat belt safety simulator), some drunk goggles, reactions tests, bicycle - motorcycle safety/hi-vis equipment, helmets... The motorcycle simulator exercises is accompanied by an ex motorcycle instructor to give extra information.
We are also present at many public events and expos.

in the Laboratory the lessons start with a survey (what they already know), followed by some road safety videos (from around the world). Together with the participants we discuss each video(what was the problem, how to avoid it, what not to do...). We also use some reaction and distraction tests (to simulate the phone usage during driving).

Evaluation

What has been the effect of the activities?

We had an evaluation form after the classes with the students, and the results were very positive (especially after they tried the seatbelt safety simulator, drunk goggles, motorcycle simulator). From 2021 august, we reached with our classes and events around 2000 persons.

Please briefly explain why your initiative is a good example of improving road safety.

We think that it is a very good idea to have a specially equipped Road Safety Laboratory with many useful tools, where students can learn a lot of new and lifesaving information, and especially they can experience/try the things that they maybe just heard about before or saw somewhere else. We think that the key of our Safety Laboratory success is in the "learning by experiencing" method.

How have you shared information about your project and its results?

We shared our events on our partners, schools social media pages, and in some local newspapers. (we were already contacted by some other counties ngos for partnersips)
