HUMDA Road Safety - Safety Comes First

We are providing an easy and fun learning experience for children, so they will develop the habit of safe travelling. With this habit, they will be more inclined to learn about road safety in the future and in return this will result in more responsible people on the roads, less accidents and an all-around safer environment.

During the program we are working together with our two trusted partners, MITKO and Truck Race Promotion. Their main role is to organize each Road Safety event taking place in different cities by providing the tools and to support our project with their expertise in the field of road safety themed events designed for children.

Please describe the project activities you carried/are carrying out and the time period over which these were implemented.

HUMDA Road Safety is an interactive education and development program which visits new towns every week, moving the youth beyond the traditional framework of teaching. Program (45 minutes): - 20 minutes of instruction in the tents, - 25 minutes on a temporary traffic road with electric mini cars, bicycles and scooters, where the children can get acquainted with traffic rules, police arm signs and test their knowledge in practice, with the help of expert instructors. Other programs: - Theoretical education - Practical education - Board game - Skill development - Interactive games - Press events - Memorabilias for the children (roadmap) The main mission of the program is to support the education of children for safe road using. Target groups: - preschool - first and second grade elementary students - the afternoon program is open to all citizens In addition, we set up a water safety program during the summer to prevent accidents that occur in the holiday season. We also gift every participant a fun booklet called "For The Road".

What has been the effect of the activities?

In a school year, approximately 80.000 children can be reached with all three parts of the road safety education program. Several elementary schools expressed their gratitude towards our agency because of the quality of the program and the great experience that the children had during the event.

Please briefly explain why your initiative is a good example of improving road safety.

Our initiative is a good example because it teaches road safety to lots of children all around the country in a really playful environment with expert instructors. It involves them in the process of learning while playing, which is the best way of getting the attention of children and it also involves the parents, so our event is a nice program for families too.

We share our project in all kinds of media platforms, such as social media, regional newspapers, radio, television and online newspapers.
