Initiative details

Describe the characteristics of your target audience
We want to reach the biggest possible group of 50+ drivers. That's why we will manage our campaign in the whole country, hopefully with Police support. We plan to reach +10.000 drivers in Poland. We also want to attract younger drivers to talk to their family menbers, and persuade e.g. senior drivers to check their fitness.

Organisation details

Please describe the main road safety challenges/problems you have addressed or are addressing.
We want to create random drivers' (above 50 years old) awareness of their strengths and weaknesses. This awareness will help them to stay safe on the road, even if their psychomotor skills, attention and anticipation is worse (age related fitness-to-drive traits). ALTA is a producer of TEST2DRIVE - an innovative computer-based diagnostic system dedicated to psychological Fitness-to-Drive and as well as to self-awareness assessments focused on road safety. Thanks to online technology, used in TEST2DRIVE we collected huge data about drivers fitness in Poland (around 15.000 drivers assessed). Regarding this data we want to prove that drivers 50+ should pay more attention into their fitness-to-drive (instant and constant). Guidelines that we want to prepare will include the Pre-journey paper guide for drivers and also a suggestion that, even if it's not obligatory, they should consider to participate in voluntary fitness to drive assessment.
What are your objectives?
Safe drivers above 50 years old
Fitness-to-drive guidelines
Fitness-to-Drive voluntary assessment

Project activities

List the actions you carried/are carrying out
Sunday, 1 January, 2017 to Friday, 31 March, 2017
Name of action

Starting from the beginning of 2017 we've been collecting and managing data, including test results, norms. We've assessed around 12.000 drivers, including around 2.000 drivers 50+.

Saturday, 1 April, 2017 to Wednesday, 31 May, 2017
Name of action

Recently we prepare the analysis and we have conclusions regarding the psychomotor skills, attention and anticipation in target group of drivers. We prove that even if 50+ drivers can still be safe and good drivers (because of social maturity, personal adjustment, self-control), they should pay more attention for the preparation, especially before long journeys.

Thursday, 1 June, 2017 to Friday, 30 June, 2017

We will manage the evaluation of the campaign, by measuring the amount of distributed guides, entering the website and visiting assessment centres and performing the voluntary fitness to drive assessments. Those assessments will be managed by centres, using TEST2DRIVE so will be able to see how many drivers decided to check themselves. We will also distribute surveys to drivers, who entered the website and downloaded the guide. We will ask them to fill the questionaire and check if they use the tips from the document.
