Cyprus Minister of Transport calls for road safety action

The Cyprus Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Giannis Karousos, has encouraged organized groups, companies, universities, local authorities and civil society to register and update their data in the European Road Safety Charter.

He added that this should be done "as part of the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Road Safety Council to achieve the European Commission's goal of reducing road deaths by 50% by 2030".

He said that "the mission of the European Road Safety Charter is to further encourage the road safety mentality and to improve the common knowledge about the causes of road accidents and the creation of preventive measures and solutions".

Giannis Karousos stated that "the Road Safety Council and I personally look forward to your active participation in our efforts to raise awareness of road safety issues, while setting road safety as a key part of sustainable social modernization that is necessary to lead us to 'Vision Zero' ".
