I as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta, am actively involved in initiatives that address road safety through research, innovation, and practical impact. My work focuses on developing intelligent traffic management systems that aim to reduce road accidents and improve traffic flow efficiency, particularly in urban areas.
I am currently engaged in research that integrates blockchain technology and AI with traffic simulation tools such as Aimsun Next to design decentralized traffic control systems. A key objective of this work is to optimize signalized intersections in real time to minimize collision risks, especially at high-risk junctions.
Additionally, I have worked on traffic accident simulation projects using real data to analyze patterns of road accidents involving vulnerable groups such as children. These insights can support targeted policy interventions and safer infrastructure design.
