STUDY ON IDENTIFICATION OF BLACK SPOTS IN BETWEEN JAGATPUR TO SALIPUR ROAD BY WOMEN & CHILD WELFARE SOCIETY, CUTTACK
As per the decision taken in the Meeting of District Road Safety Forum for NGOs, Cuttack district, held on 16.11.2021, a total 14 stretch of roads have been identified as black spot/ high accident prone areas. Considering different aspects in these identified stretches of roads, members of the said forum were allotted to conduct a primary filed study at the identified locations for getting a clear picture for design a model for best road safety practice. Our organization “Women & Child Welfare Society”, Cuttack is allotted “Jagatpur to Salipur Road, Dist-Cuttack”. Below mentioned five locations are identified as prominent Black Spot region which is having high risk of road accidents –
(i) Jagatpur, (ii) Khaira Bridge, Jagatpur, (iii) Bhairapur, (iv) Pira Bazar, (v) Padmapur, (vi) Kazi Bazar, (vii) Mahajanpur Gada, (viii) Paga Bazar, (ix) Bhatapada Chhaka, (x) Nandolagada, (xi) Salipur, and (xii) Kalagni Chhaka.
Accordingly, a physical filed survey of the above identified black spots was conducted on 22.12.2021 by ‘Women & Child Welfare Society’, Cuttack. On behalf of Women & Child Welfare Society, Minati Bindhani, General Secretary has conducted the field survey in the allotted areas. Volunteers ((i) Chitta Ranjan Moharana, (ii) Sukanta Kumar Rout and (iii) Smruti Ranjan Sahoo) of WCWS have assisted in conducting the survey.
