Who is Fundatia Siguranta Auto Copii, and what is your role as a Charter Ambassador?
As the Ambassador for Romania for the European Road Safety Charter, we monitor and track road safety initiatives across the country. We provide information to stakeholders, support awareness-raising activities, and help share best practices from across Europe.
Why did you decide to join the European Road Safety Charter?
We joined the Charter because it helps us bring good examples and insights from other EU countries into Romania and supports the adaptation of national strategies in road safety education and prevention. The Charter provides valuable guidance, facilitates interaction with similar organisations across Europe, and strengthens our ability to learn from others’ experiences.
What are your main focus areas and current projects?
We focus on challenges such as the reluctance of authorities regarding the importance of prevention and the limited availability of data on the causes of accidents and people injured on the roads.
This year, we organised two national events with over 2,000 participants, focusing on vulnerable road users and promoting awareness of road safety.
Who do you collaborate with?
We are involved in Coaliția pentru Siguranța Rutieră, a national coalition of public authorities, private entities, and NGOs working together to improve road safety through policy advocacy, awareness campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
What advice would you give to organisations working on road safety?
Perseverance
