Initiative details
One of the key challenges in modern road safety is ensuring that driver assistance systems (ADAS) function reliably and accurately in real-world conditions. Among these, the Speed Limit Information Functions (SLIF), which display the current speed limit to the driver, are critical to encouraging compliant and safe driving behavior.
However, if these systems display incorrect or outdated speed information, drivers may unintentionally drive too fast or too slow for the road conditions, increasing the risk of collisions, fines, and public distrust in vehicle technology.
IVEX has developed an innovative platform that enables vehicle manufacturers and consumer testing organizations like Euro NCAP to objectively evaluate how well these systems perform on real roads, not just in simulations or controlled environments.
By enabling large-scale, real-world testing and providing quantifiable performance insights, IVEX helps:
- Manufacturers improve the reliability of their ADAS systems,
- Regulators and safety organizations set smarter standards,
- Consumers make informed decisions about the safety of their vehicles.
Ultimately, IVEX's solution contributes to:
- higher transparency,
- better engineering,
- fewer speed-related accidents.
Helping advancing Europe’s Vision Zero goals and making roads safer for everyone.

Project activities
If you work together with external partners, list the most important partners and briefly describe their role.
IVEX has collaborated with a wide range of stakeholders, including leading car manufacturers, road authorities, and consumer testing organizations. These partnerships were instrumental in shaping and refining the IVEX platform to address real-world needs.
Through each collaboration, IVEX was able to adapt its software to support a variety of regulatory frameworks and evaluation protocols, such as the General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2) and the upcoming Euro NCAP Safe Driving protocols. By continuously integrating feedback from industry partners and aligning with evolving safety standards, IVEX has developed a solution that is flexible, regulation-ready, and impactful.

Please describe the project activities you carried/are carrying out and the time period over which these were implemented.
IVEX has developed a groundbreaking hardware and software solution that enables policy makers and automakers alike to efficiently test, evaluate, and validate ADAS functions—especially Speed Limit Information Functions (SLIF)—in realistic traffic conditions across multiple countries.
In terms of implementation, what worked well and what challenges did you need to overcome?
What worked well:
The IVEX system has proven highly effective in real-world deployments. OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers were able to collect and analyze hundreds of hours of real driving data with minimal engineering overhead. The plug-and-play nature of the data logger—installed by a single driver without technical assistance—worked exceptionally well, enabling seamless execution of multi-country campaigns. The system’s cloud-based architecture allowed for fast and secure data uploads, while the automated AI-driven analysis dramatically reduced manual review time. What once required weeks or months of engineering effort is now completed in under a few hours.
Challenges we needed to overcome:
Implementing the platform across different countries posed several challenges. Firstly, varying road environments and signage standards required us to build a robust, adaptable data interpretation layer. Secondly, managing data privacy compliance (e.g., GDPR) in cross-border scenarios was complex—we addressed this by integrating organization safeguards, data encryption, and automated face and license plate anonymization into the cloud pipeline.
Additionally, achieving high accuracy in event detection (e.g., SLIF interactions) required extensive model training and calibration, especially diverse driving conditions. Through close collaboration with customers and iteration on our algorithms, we successfully built a system that is both reliable and efficient.

Evaluation
Please summarise how you have evaluated the initiative’s impact (e.g. social media reach, survey, feedback forms, statistics).
IVEX has assessed the impact of its solution through direct stakeholder feedback, real-world deployments, and alignment with evolving industry standards. One clear sign of relevance is the increasing regulatory emphasis on on-road ADAS testing, reflected in frameworks such as General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2) and the forthcoming Euro NCAP 2026 protocols. These developments confirm that the sector is moving toward the kind of real-world validation that IVEX has helped enable.
Throughout its deployments, IVEX has worked closely with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and consumer-focused organizations to fine-tune its platform. Their feedback has informed improvements in usability, event detection accuracy, and workflow integration. In several projects, the IVEX approach has supported the evaluation of vehicle functions in diverse traffic conditions and helped organizations prepare for upcoming regulatory expectations.
Beyond vehicle testing, IVEX has also shared insights with road authorities, helping them better understand how existing infrastructure supports—or hinders—the performance of ADAS technologies. This has added value by informing infrastructure planning and maintenance with a safety technology lens.
Internally, IVEX tracks metrics such as kilometers of data processed, engineering time saved, and system accuracy, providing a clear picture of efficiency gains and operational impact.

What has been the effect of the activities?
The current effect of the initiative is a noticeable increase in the number of OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers actively assessing and refining their ADAS technologies for real-world conditions. These efforts directly influence the quality and reliability of future vehicles that will be on European roads in the coming years.
This trend aligns closely with the objectives of General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2), which mandates the deployment of effective driver assistance systems to enhance road safety. By enabling efficient, data-driven evaluations, IVEX is helping industry players meet these requirements while improving the real-world performance of systems such as Speed Limit Information Functions (SLIF).
As a result, the initiative is contributing to the delivery of safer vehicles to the public, increased transparency around ADAS functionality, and ultimately, a reduction in speed-related accidents.

Please briefly explain why your initiative is a good example of improving road safety.
The IVEX initiative is a strong example of how technology can be used to actively improve road safety. Just as past innovations like seat belts, ABS, and airbags have reduced injuries and saved lives, modern ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) now play a critical role in preventing accidents before they happen.
However, the safety benefits of ADAS depend on how well these systems perform in real-world driving conditions—not just in controlled tests. This is where IVEX makes a meaningful contribution.
IVEX provides a solution that allows manufacturers and testing bodies to actively test, measure, and improve the performance of ADAS features such as Speed Limit Information Functions (SLIF). By enabling large-scale, on-road evaluations, the platform helps ensure these systems are accurate, reliable, and ready to support drivers on public roads.
The better these systems work, the more confidence drivers can have—and the greater the reduction in crashes caused by human error. IVEX’s work bridges the gap between technological potential and real-world safety outcomes, helping to bring safer vehicles to market and supporting the goals of initiatives like Vision Zero across Europe.

How have you shared information about your project and its results?
IVEX has actively shared information through a combination of international engagement and public presentations. The team has held face-to-face meetings with automotive manufacturers, regulatory bodies, and consumer safety organizations across Europe, Asia, and North America, ensuring that key stakeholders are directly informed and involved.
In addition, IVEX has presented its technology and methodology at industry conferences, online, and technical forums, such as Safety Week, ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Magazine, etc., helping to raise awareness about the importance of real-world ADAS evaluation and the role of data-driven safety insights.
These activities have helped position IVEX as a thought leader in the domain of on-road safety validation, while also contributing to global conversations on ADAS regulation, testing, and future mobility standards.
