Who is La Sécurité Routière asbl, and what is your role as a Charter Ambassador?

La Sécurité Routière asbl is a small national non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting road safety and protecting all road users. We focus on awareness raising, education, and information.

As Charter Ambassador, we raise awareness of the European Road Safety Charter and promote its values among public and private stakeholders in Luxembourg.

Why did you decide to join the European Road Safety Charter?

Our extensive experience in road safety awareness and education, combined with a strong national network, made us well suited to support the Charter.

What are your main focus areas and current projects?

Luxembourg aims to achieve European and Vision Zero objectives. Current main causes of accidents are speeding, distraction, and drink-driving, and the coexistence of different types of road users is also a key challenge.

We are particularly proud of our long-running initiatives for young people, including our puppet theatre and the school cup for young cyclists, which we have been able to sustain and modernise over decades.

Who do you collaborate with?

We work closely with national and local partners on a range of projects, including awareness campaigns with the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works, puppet theatre with the police, school competitions with local authorities, and the publication of the Highway Code with driving schools and examiners. We also cooperate with associations and private companies to produce educational materials used in schools.

What advice would you give to organisations working on road safety?

Nothing can be taken for granted. Persevere and innovate, because prevention is a constantly evolving process.
