European Mobility Week is the European Commission’s flagship awareness-raising campaign promoting sustainable urban mobility. Taking place from 16 to 22 September 2026, the campaign will bring together local authorities, organisations, stakeholders and citizens across Europe to encourage cleaner, safer and more inclusive transport choices.
The 2026 theme, “Mobility for Everyone – Intergenerational Fairness”, highlights the importance of creating transport systems that are accessible and responsive to the needs of people at every stage of life. The campaign focuses on ensuring that sustainable mobility options are available regardless of age, income, gender, ability or location, while also considering the needs of future generations.
Through awareness activities, community events, mobility actions, and policy initiatives, participants are encouraged to explore how collaboration across generations can help make transport safer, more inclusive, and more sustainable. The theme aligns closely with European efforts to promote fairness across generations and strengthen long-term thinking in mobility planning and governance. [mobilityweek.eu]
The campaign is relevant to road safety professionals, public authorities, mobility practitioners, NGOs, educators, researchers and citizens interested in creating safer and more accessible transport systems for all.
