What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?
The environment of a car race stimulates adrenaline, exhibitionism and other sensations that are released at the tracks of the event, and sometimes this festive environment leads to the intake of alcoholic substances, which at times can provoke serious situations regarding traffic accidents. The National Auto Sport Association (ANDA Portugal) intends to raise awareness and change the behaviour of all those who may place their lives and those of others at risk; who participate or attend auto sporting demonstrations.
We will organise the following actions, whose slogan will be: ‘Racing on the tracks, safety on the Road’:
We will create a space for clarification and information at the 14 races of which the Portuguese OffRoad Championship consists. This regards a permanently occupied place where all the material to raise awareness about road safety that has been created will be distributed in order to clarify any possible doubts. This will be a site that travels from race to race with an illustrative layout regarding the matter in question.
We will organise three annual conventions at three locations, where we normally participate in expositions: Porto – Exponor; Aveiro – Centro de Feiras e Exposições; and Penafiel – Centro de Feira e Exposições. Drivers, organisers and the general public will participate in these conventions. Our goal is to always reach more than 1,000 participants.
We will distribute informative leaflets on all the risks to watch out for on the road, which will be distributed amongst all our partners and during official trips. A leaflet will be created at the start of each season. The number will always be subjective but will constantly be between 20,000 and 30,000, taking the locations where we will be present into account.
With the combination of all the initiatives, we anticipate to succeed in this direct intervention in an environment of close to 100,000 people, as well as close to one million people indirectly (via the press and other means).
