With the completion of the 2025-2026 school year, EFTHITA. Rhodes - Road Safety Observatory, proudly presents the results of another successful year of road safety education across the Dodecanese Islands.
For the 16th consecutive year, our Ministry of Education-approved educational programme "Safe Road Use -Safe Cycling" has promoted safe mobility among children and young people through interactive, evidence-based learning activities.
During this school year, our volunteer educational team travelled throughout Rhodes, Kos, Kalymnos, Leros, Karpathos, Astypalaia, Leipsoi and Pserimos, delivering road safety education to all educational levels.
2025-2026 Impact
🚸 92 schools visited
👧👦 4,742 students reached
👩🏫 800 teachers participated
The programme included:
- interactive road safety presentations
- practical workshops
- role-playing activities
- pedestrian and cycling safety education
- promotion of seat belt and helmet use
- awareness of the Road Traffic Code
- responsible behaviour as future drivers.
Children from kindergarten and primary schools also received participation certificates and educational materials to reinforce the key road safety messages.
The programme is delivered by volunteers, university students, graduates and members of EFTHITA Rhodes, using educational methods inspired by European best practices and adapted to local community needs.
