The Charter across Europe
Our aim is to reduce road fatalities by ensuring awareness on maximum level and active participation of public with focus on education at primary level and influencing the government and policy makers.
I have been working on road safety projects on a voluntary and not-for-profit basis for 24 years. During this time I have passed on a lot of advice and suggestions to our specific target groups: children, teenagers and inexperienced young drivers. The ERSCharter gives me the opportunity to exchange knowledge with others and get new ideas for my projects. Together we are road safety!
Feeling proud to be among the very first members of the ERSC since 2004, Cyta has been very active ever since! Special emphasis was placed on educating our staff as well as young people. Within our own organization we managed in halving accidents involving company vehicles. Regarding our contribution to the society, among other activities, we have been offering free special instruction to all soldiers of the National Guard, contributing to the cultivation of road safety awareness in Cyprus.
Great results have been achieved regarding road safety awareness in Cyprus, since many ERSC members in our country have been supporting the Traffic Department of the Cyprus Police with numerous initiatives. These joined efforts have resulted in reducing accident victims in Cyprus by 62.39 % during the last 10 years (2004 – 2013). Among our active partners is Cyta (Cyprus Telecoms) which, for a number of years now, have been offering specially designed safety helmets to the thousands of children visiting the Cyprus Police Road Safety Park for free instruction every year. We even achieved a Guinness World Record together back in 2012: 1000 children wearing safety helmets at the same time https://www.cyta.com.cy/pr-2012-oct/en?archid=75
I work for “Multipack Bulgaria”, a company socially engaged in its roots, always looking towards the people. We believe our influence, by the products that are near by the clients, have made everyone consider what can be done to decrease road incidents.
