The Grammar School, Nicosia organized the annual Road Safety Week for the 15th consecutive year from November 2nd until November 6th, 2015. The purpose of Road Safety Week is to raise awareness and sensitivity among students regarding Road Safety. It is essential for everyone to become aware of the hidden dangers while using public roads and be able to protect themselves as well as other people as negligence and speed can be fatal. Road Safety Week began with the Opening Ceremony which took place on Monday November 2nd. This year we were honoured by the presence of the Minister of Education and Culture who commenced the activities of the week. During the Opening Ceremony awards were presented to the following 2nd class students who excelled in the interschool writing competition in Greek with the theme of Road Safety:  1st prize Ioanna Philippou (2B) 2nd prize Cleopatra Efstathiou (2A) 3rd prize joint Christina Georgiou (2G) and Irene Georgiou (2Ε)Awards were also presented to the following organizations and people who have contributed greatly over the years to making our students aware of the importance of Road Safety.

4. Mr Andreas Papas, retired police officer
5. Mrs Christiana Katsexou, police officer
6. Cyprus Minister of Education and Culture Mr Costas Kadis
The activities of the week included listening to speeches by “Omada Protovoulias”, Mr Andreas Papas, “Reaction, Youth for the prevention” organization and Mrs Christiana Katsexou. There was also a demonstration with motorcycles by the police Group Zeta and distribution of Road Safety leaflets. Moreover, students were given the opportunity to write compositions as well as create paintings and posters inspired by Road Safety topics.Furthermore, pre-school and class 1 students of the Grammar Junior School visited the Road Safety Park while all Grammar Junior School students listened to a lecture on Road Safety by police officer Mrs Christiana Katsexou.

Objectives
