Objectives

The ERSCharter was present at the 9th National Road Safety Conference, hosted by Road Safety GB, on 14 and 15 November in Manchester.

With more than 300 attendees, the annual “National Road Safety Conference” is probably the most important road safety event in the UK. Being invited to promote the charter at this event was a great honour for us and even more so to have a presentation slot in the main conference agenda during the “topical topics session”, dedicated to the presentation of specific road safety initiatives. In order to encourage the potential new members to sign and promote the charter in UK, the presentation of the charter addressed the following topics and aspects of the ERSCharter:

  • General principles of the ERSCharter
  • Objectives of the ERSCharter
  • The importance of joining and promoting the charter
  • Why do I join the charter?
  • How do I join the charter?
  • What can I do on the “My charter” section of the charter’s website?
  • The Excellence in Road Safety Awards

The large audience present at the presentation as well as the exhibitors present during the event, received the ERSCharter very warmly. The charter team shared interesting interactions with actual members of the charter and also potential new members willing to join and promote the charter.

We can definitely say that the promotion of the charter during the National Road Safety Conference in UK was, along with the event itself, a great success. Some of the “potential new members” we met during the conference joined the charter immediately afterwards and we have no doubt that others will follow.

Congratulations to the new members of the charter and special thanks to Road Safety GB and Nick Rawlings for letting us promote the charter at their event.
